1. Introduction

Digital Nomads s.r.o. ("we," "our," or "us"), a company registered in the Czech Republic with Company ID (IČO) 23306815, operates the Biker Connect mobile application ("BikerConnect" or "the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use BikerConnect on iOS or Android.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Phone number — used for SMS verification (OTP) during registration and login
• Nickname — your display name visible to other riders
• Profile photo — optional, stored on our servers
• Email address — optional, for account recovery

2.2 Location Information

With your explicit consent, we collect real-time GPS location data to provide core app features:

• Group ride tracking — sharing your position with ride participants in real time
• Route planning — calculating motorcycle-optimized routes
• SOS emergency — sending your GPS coordinates to emergency contacts
• Background location — when navigating via external apps (Waze, Google Maps), GPS continues running to share your position with group ride members

You can disable location services at any time through your device settings. Without location access, group ride tracking and SOS features will not function.

2.3 Contacts

With your consent, we may access your device contacts to help you find friends who are already using BikerConnect. Contact data is sent to our server for matching purposes only and is not stored permanently.

2.4 Photos and Media

We collect photos you voluntarily upload:

• Profile photos — displayed to other riders
• Motorcycle photos — for your garage profile
• Ride cover images — for group ride listings

Photos are processed (resized to multiple sizes) and stored on Cloudflare R2 storage in WebP format.

2.5 Device Information

We automatically collect:

• Device model, operating system, and app version
• Push notification token (FCM/APNs) for delivering notifications
• IP address and network type
• Crash reports and performance data

2.6 Usage Data

• Ride history (routes taken, distance, duration, speed)
• App usage patterns and feature interactions
• Chat messages within group rides (stored on our servers)

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide real-time group ride tracking and rider position sharing
• To authenticate your identity via SMS verification
• To deliver push notifications (ride reminders, invitations, SOS alerts)
• To plan motorcycle-optimized routes via our routing engine
• To enable SOS emergency alerts with GPS coordinates
• To match you with friends from your contacts
• To generate AI-powered ride descriptions and point-of-interest information
• To display weather forecasts for planned rides
• To improve our app and develop new features
• To comply with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share data only with:

• Other Riders: Your nickname, profile photo, and real-time location are visible to participants of group rides you join
• Emergency Contacts: When you trigger SOS, your GPS location is sent to your designated emergency contacts via SMS and push notification
• Service Providers:
  • Twilio — SMS delivery for OTP verification and SOS alerts
  • Firebase (Google) — push notifications (FCM), app analytics
  • Cloudflare R2 — photo and media storage
  • OpenAI — AI-generated ride descriptions (anonymized ride data only)
  • Qonversion — subscription and payment management
  • Open-Meteo — weather forecasts (location data only, no personal info)
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect rights and safety

5. Data Security

• All data in transit is encrypted via TLS/HTTPS
• Authentication tokens (JWT) are used for API access
• Passwords are never stored — we use OTP (one-time password) via SMS
• Biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) is processed locally on your device
• Regular security assessments and dependency updates

6. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained while your account is active
• Ride history: Retained indefinitely for your personal records (deletable on request)
• Location data: Real-time location is not permanently stored; ride GPS tracks are stored as part of ride history
• Chat messages: Retained as long as the associated ride exists
• Push notification tokens: Automatically removed when you log out or uninstall

When you delete your account, all personal data is soft-deleted and permanently purged within 30 days.

7. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the app: More → Account Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, ride history, photos, and all associated data. You can also request deletion by contacting us at info@digitalnomads.cz.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your personal data
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Restriction — request limitation of processing
• Objection — object to certain types of processing
• Withdraw Consent — withdraw consent at any time

9. Children's Privacy

BikerConnect is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we discover that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will promptly delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data is primarily processed on servers located in the European Union. Some third-party services (Firebase, OpenAI, Cloudflare) may process data outside the EU. We ensure that such transfers comply with GDPR through Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

11. Push Notifications

We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) on Android and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) on iOS to send you:

• Ride reminders (1 hour before scheduled rides)
• Group ride invitations
• SOS emergency alerts from other riders
• Chat messages from group rides

You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings or within the app.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by posting the new version on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we may notify you through the app.
